The Black Knight

I think this may become one of my favourite nail polishes, particularly for the fall/winter. The Black Knight is one of the new butterLondons I picked up at Seattle’s SeaTac airport. It’s a black based polish with a ton of purple, fuchsia and blue glitter. It reminds me of space – like those astronomy pictures you see in the magazines.

What you see here is two coats with a base & top coat as well. The top coat adds a much needed glossy sheen and brings out the beautiful blue glitter giving the polish added dimension.

My skin decided to go berserk on me while on vacation in Vegas. Apparently because of the dry Vegas air, all the moisture in my hair and especially my face got sucked out. Now that we’re back in the humid climate of Vancouver, my hair has quickly recovered (thanks to Moroccan Oil) but my skin’s still dry and irritated.

In addition to drinking a ton of water, I’ve tried slathering on my favourite moisturizer, Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer, and that’s only mildly helped. I also used the Juara Tamarind Tea Hydrating Toner just before, and again that’s only mildly helped. Yikes. So I went to London Drugs to buy those cheapie face masks to see if that would work. I bought two: 1 paper mask that was calming and 1 cream mask that was moisturizing (also came with a serum to apply afterwards). So far it’s helping ok. Better than the other two items but not a ton. Yikes!

Does anyone have any suggestions on what else I can do?

(Probably just keep drinking water and waiting for my skin to heal itself.)

There’s a butterLONDON store at Seattle SeaTac airport! It’s the only one of its kind. Located inside the C gate in domestic departures. They had discounts on top of the better US pricing. I got these polishes: Disco Biscuit, Tart With a Heart, Rosie Lee, Fairy Cake & The Black Knight. All for $66 USD including taxes. Crazy…

Felt like a classic so I decided to paint my nails in Russian Navy by OPI. Still love this colour after all these years (can you believe this was released in 2007?). And the dark moody shade really suits my mood these days.

What you see here is two coats. I could almost, but not quite, get away with one coat. Sorry for the sloppy job around my cuticles, I haven’t bothered to clean up yet. Also sorry for the horrible picture with flash! But at least with flash, it really shows off the blue shimmer.

Lately I’ve been on a shopping binge and show no sign of stopping. Which is horrible because my husband & I are off to Vegas next week and I should be saving money for all the shows/dinners/shopping. So alas, I am putting a crease-fire on my credit card. I’ve been eyeing these items for when I get back from Vegas however…

Blank Vegan Leather Leggings in black. Loving them because I need something to spice up my wardrobe and this is just the ticket. Plus, they’re cropping which means they’re perfect regular length for me with my stumps for legs.

I just got these earrings on Wednesday and they’re my new favourites.

Kara by Kara Ross

Some black resin earrings from Kara by Kara Ross. Bought them at Jules & Eve in Kerrisdale. They were to go with my birthday outfit but then I realized they actually go with everything. I’ve worn them with everything the last couple days.

I really like that they’re large statement type earrings that are actually really light and don’t weigh down on my ears and make my lobes sore.
