Yes, I change my polish too often. Strawberry Fields from China Glaze’s Summer Days collection. Found it at Winners last summer. Wearing it again today to combat the dreary weather outside, after having been spoiled the last week with gorgeous perfect sunny days and clear skies.
Strawberry Fields (love the name) is a hot fuchsia with gold flecks as you can see in the closeup of the picture. It’s a fun spring/summer shade that I’d love to find a matching lipstick for. (I know. I’ve become one of those people…)
What you see is three coats, no base or top coat. Two coats would have been enough coverage for me usually but I was being picky last night about the visible nail line. So I added an extra coat to ensure full opacity.
… I swear! I spent too much money last month when I got my bonus. And too much money this month when my computer died. But I had a $75 gift card at Holt Renfrew that was going to expire at the end of the month. So after a lot of looking around at various items I could get myself, I finally decided on jewellery, something rose-gold to go with my MK watch that my husband got me recently.
I was initially looking at getting the Marc by Marc Jacobs Katie bracelet, but after playing with it for a bit, I realized it was too finicky for my tastes. The links easily misaligned themselves and I’d spend all day making sure they looked proper. I was also considering getting a set of stackable rings by Folli Follie, specifically the Fireworks Rings, but wasn’t entirely sure. Would I ever bother to wear the rings separately or even be bothered to stack them properly together? I thought about getting an Alexis Bittar ring as well, but the ones Holt Renfrew carried were far too bling-y for my taste.
Finally, I decided on this Marc by Marc Jacobs Puffed Heart Ring which caught my eye. I love that it’s so ostentatiously playful, whereas most of my jewellery is decided less so which is a nice departure. But it works for me since it’s so girly like my personality. I’ve been trying to expand my jewellery horizons over the past few months and this is definitely an example of that. Now excuse me while I go admire my hand…
$1700 later, I finally have another computer. It was a rough half a week without one.
To go along with my orange manicure, I decided to go bright orange lips. My loudest orange is cult favourite Morange by MAC Cosmetics. It’s an extremely pigmented neutral orange with a cream finish, slightly glossy. One swipe and I’m usually good to go for the rest of the day. Morange is such a statement colour that it demands the rest of your face be almost bare. For me, I did a wash of gold in the lids and liquid eyeliner. No blush, no foundation.
Felt like an orange manicure for Mother’s Day which I’m spending at Steveston with the in-laws. This is Style Wars by China Glaze, an orange jelly which I found at my local Winners. I think it’s a discontinued shade. Love that it’s so bright and cheerful. Perfect for a sunny day like today. What’s your Mother’s Day manicure?
Another Kardashian nailpolish. I’m so ashamed. But my local London Drugs have them on sale right now so I set aside my pride and bought this along with another one. Kim-pletely in Love is a baby pink similar to Kim’s favourite Nars lipgloss whose name escapes me right now. Turkish Delight maybe? What I like about this colour is the blue duochrome quality. What you see here is four coats (because it’s so sheer) and two days of wear. What’s your nail colour today?
These Prada Rocket Shoes are just about the best thing to happen to shoes in a long time, I think. I’ve been getting kinda tired of the stripper-esque platform shoes that are so popular for the last couple of years (*ahem Christian Louboutin*).
I love this shoe because it’s so decidedly bad-ass and yet still girlie with a flower and rhinestones. Kylie Minogue was spotted wearing a similar pair in green this week and I silently squealed to myself. And when I spotted them at Holt Renfrew yesterday for $1400, I silently died a little inside.
